Trust me, you are not alone.
Procrastination is normal.
And it’s not productive.
So why do we do it?
Here’s my take…
I really think that there are three main reasons why we continue to delay and push the productive stuff forward into the future.
Being productive…
- Necessitates a mental or physical demand and some level of additional challenge and/or stress.
- Often creates the need for future commitment in thought, work, and time to maintain.
- Demands that we either do less of or totally give up things that we truly enjoy… possibly including bad habits, guilty pleasures, or doing nothing at all.
In essence, procrastination is a pain avoidance habit.
It reminds me of a quote that goes something like this…
“Life is hard if you make it easy and easy if you make it hard.”
The ability to endure discomfort is skill worth acquiring.
