Have you thought out your new patient process?
Here’s how MOST (not all) D.C.s do it…
Assuming the front desk doesn’t talk the incoming caller OUT of coming in, the patient is given a clipboard, a pen, and is seated in the reception/waiting room. LOCATION #1
TIME: 10-15 MINUTES
The patient is brought back to the dedicated consult and “report of findings” room. The Doctor waits a bit for effect, strolls in, sits behind the desk, skims the intake form, asks questions, and explains what Chiropractic is and what he or she is all about. LOCATION #2
TIME: 10-20 MINUTES
If the patient decides to proceed to the next step, he or she is taken to the exam room and goes through a battery of movements, some reflex tests, some palpation, and maybe their blood pressure is taken. LOCATION #3
TIME: 10-20 MINUTES
Films are taken. LOCATION #4
TIME: 10 MINUTES
The patient is then adjusted and possibly receives some sort of modality or vice versa. LOCATION #5/6
TIME: 10-20 MINUTES
Or worse, the patient is asked to come back another day to jump through more hoops.
You get the idea.
BOTTOM LINE….
Most D.C.s wear patients out with policies, processes, and procedures, costing patients too much time, money, and brain-damage.
THE TRUE PURPOSE OF “DAY 1″…
Day 1 isn’t about making money.
Day 1 isn’t about impressing patients with your knowledge.
Day 1 isn’t about selling future care.
It IS an opportunity to BUILD RAPPORT and PROVIDE RELIEF
as quickly and as inexpensively as possible,
ideally in 30 minutes and in no more than two locations,
without telling and selling.
LISTEN.
AGREE.
GIVE THEM WHAT THEY NEED.
Nothing more, nothing less.
Doing this right is crucial, but you can take this to the bank…
