I don’t know about you but other than health scares or the loss of a loved one, there is nothing worse than being under financial stress. It’s a hopeless feeling that can easily lead to anxiety and depression.
I know firsthand…
Back in the 90s, after running a successful practice in Foster City, California, I decided to move to a up-and-coming town about three hours away in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains called Folsom.
I was sure that I’d quickly rise to the level of success that I was accustomed to but after about a year, I realized that just wasn’t going to be the case.
Knowing what I know now, I could have easily thrived in Folsom but back then, all I knew was that patients weren’t coming in or referring others like they were in the Foster City office.
So, I did what most people do under financial stress: I cut expenses. But I did it in a drastic way. I moved into my office and slept in one of the adjustment rooms. I did that for almost a year.
It wasn’t easy.
The practice was and still is in a retail strip on East Bidwell street in downtown Folsom. Here I was sneaking out in the morning and back in at night with my clothes in the trunk of my car, showing at the gym, and eating when and where I could.
When I completely ran out of money, I was forced to sell the practice and take a $48,000 loss.
At 33, I moved back home with my parents and opened a practice in a small built out space for $750/mo rent in my hometown of Hayward, California.
What changed?
How did I rise from it all?
I learned how to run a business, not a Chiropractic office. I read everything I could about marketing and attracting customers, not patients… and it worked!
Today, close to 30 years later, I use my vast knowledge and experience to market products and practices all over the world.
ChiroTrust is my baby. It’s my pride and joy. It will continue to grow and will be here long after I’m gone.
It’s built for Chiropractors who want less stress in their lives and would much rather let me and my team worry about getting patients into their doors.
