WHAT WORKS BEST?
From time to time, I am asked, “What works best: snail mail, email, or social media marketing?”
My answer:
Bad question. Over simplified.
But you can take THIS to the bank…
Media is just media, and it’s all media.
Blimps
Bus stop benches
Billboards
T.V.
Radio
Online (social media, websites, podcasts, webinars, email)
Direct Mail
…it’s all media—merely a way and a place to communicate a message to an audience.
Some audiences favor specific media, many do not.
What you have to do is use all media, provided that the message and the format of your marketing is congruent with that audience in the context of that media source.
How you communicate on Instagram is different than YouTube. What you can get away with within email is much broader than on Facebook.
Snail mail has a longer shelf life than email.
It’s all good, it’s all different, and it’s all worthy of testing.
What works has more to do with having the right message to the right market at the right time than it does the “right” media.
