Employees are people with whom you exchange money for desired and well-defined behaviors.
You don’t hire employees
- so you can be right;
- so you have someone to boss around; or
- so you have someone to blame when things don’t go your way.
The best way to get the most out of your employees is by being the best you can be.
The more honorable, honest, and productive you are, the more valuable your employees will become.
So although you pay your employees for desired and defined behaviors, the best way to get the most out of them has nothing to do with them at all.
Who YOU are will determine who they will become for you.
Go to bat for them.
Train them and pay them… well.
Then leave them alone so that YOU can work on your business and on yourself.
Macro manage them.
Micro manage you.
