The New Year is approaching and smart doctors are setting time aside to create their chiropractic marketing plans and budget. They make it a ritual. Unfortunately, many other chiropractors know they should have a plan and will actually attempt to start one, only to fail by the end of January just like most New Years weight loss plans. What gives?
Pay attention please; because even if you think you are doing well and have no more room for improvement, today’s chiropractic marketing lesson still applies to you.
Whatever you are doing that is working and gets desired results is because of one thing: You’ve created a system around it. Either you immediately planned in advance each step, script, subtlety around it…or over time, you’ve continued to test against it to attempt to improve the results or you’ve added to it to make it better.
This not only applies to your practice; it applies to your workouts, how you get your kids ready for school, how you manage your finances, plan vacations… all your life’s experiences. The system, planning, and diligence are what make it work.
So when you get a chance, designate a notepad for this exercise and
continually work different aspects of your practice and your life into it:
Step 1. – Create 2 lists; one list for everything that has gone right or is going right in your practice, and one list for all the important things in your life.
Step 2. – Underneath each entry, try to figure out what steps you took and the things that happened that created or continues to create the desired outcome.
Step 3. – Ask yourself, what can I learn from this and how can I create a checklist or a system around this so that I can replicate the outcome or experience in the future.
Step 4. – Create another list of things that are NOT going so great in your life or practice. Include anything in the past that also created undesirable results…like your chiropractic marketing plan.
Step 5. – If you are still doing or are involved in the “step 4” list, work on creating better systems around it (Preplanned ways of doing things in a disciplined order and manner.) and if necessary, to improve, ask for advice,
guidance, and/or help. If chiropractic marketing plans are on your agenda, then the time is now to start this exercise and get the ball rolling.
Play life like a sport or a game. Study the past, plan and train for the future!
