Ben Altadonna Daily Marketing Tip: Do The Right Thing, Accept Things “As They Are” and Take Responsibility for Your Actions!
Managing my mind… it’s a full time job.
It’s where everything starts and stops. Like your mind, it’s full of a lot of information and many false stories about the past, about the present, about people, business, life, etc..
It’s also full of awesome and tragic memories of the past as well as current stuff to be grateful for, think about, and deal with.
We use our mind solve problems for ourselves and others.
On top of that, our mind speaks to us. It’s that voice that compares how things are to how it thinks things should be and it tends to focus on the difference between two.
Then, there’s the frustration created from all the injustices that you and I have to deal with both from within and outside of our profession.
So, how do I manage from going absolutely nuts?
First, I accept people as they are and life as it is.
I will only expend money, energy, and emotional capital that I am willing to lose to “fight the good fight” or try to change things.
Other than that, I accept the fact that life is a game that everybody is trying to win and that at some level, everybody has their best interests in mind.
It’s a chess game.
But if you’re like me, the fewer games you have to play, the better.
That’s why I do everything within my power to only attract people in my life who “get me” and I do everything in my power to repel everyone else.
By the way, your patients are the same way. They choose doctors who tend to agree with their wishes versus try to change what they want.
Another strategy that I use to manage my mind is to take full responsibility for my outcomes and results. Why?
…Because the more responsibility that I am willing to assume, the more control that I have and I like having control or at least feeling that I’m in control.
Now, I know that there are a lot of things that I have no control of and in the bigger picture, I have absolutely no control of anything but taking responsibility seems to help me from going crazy. : )))
Using common sense and doing the right thing also keeps me sane. I don’t get swayed by others that make more money than me, or do things differently.
For example, if you love to sell, “close”, persuade, overcome objections, and are willing to spend $300-$1,000 in marketing costs to procure each patient, then you quite possibly could collect a lot more money than you are collecting now but…is it the right thing to do? Personally, I don’t think it is.
Similarly, I could use my skills to sell a lot more expensive programs for Chiropractors and double my revenue in 2 years or less but I’ll never do it.
To summarize, being accepting, taking responsibility, and trying to always do the right thing has helped me not only grow my business and practices all over the world, it’s how I keep from going crazy in this crazy and wonderful world we live in.
