If you’re like me, you’ve wrestled with what’s worth it…
What’s worth the thinking, the sacrifice, the investment, the hard work, and the occasional hardship… especially since attaining “food, shelter, and clothing” is relatively easy (and thankfully so)?
We don’t have to own or do many things to exist.
Since happiness seems to correlate more with mindset than it does with money, why do we do what we do?
Why do we want more?
Why do we want what we want?
Why do we think so much about money?
I’ll tell you why…
Because having a growth mindset is healthy.
Making money is modern day hunting.
It’s in our genetic makeup to want to protect and to provide and to do both well, it takes surplus…for the harsh winters of life.
We are wired to worry, to work, and to want more.
…and it’s not only okay, it’s healthy.
We feel alive when we push ourselves.
For me, to not work, to not have the ability to dream, learn, overcome my fears, and become better would be the kiss of death.
Your proudest memories came from effort, being uncomfortable, and doing stuff.
My father worked ’til he physically couldn’t, just a few months shy of his death.
That’s my goal too.
Hard work.
Working hard.
Favoring discomfort.
Because that’s where growth comes from.
You don’t need to be healthy to be happy.
But why not strive to be both?
