How Not To Freak Out

If you haven’t figured this out by now, let me just tell you…

Simple is always best. Always.

It doesn’t matter what aspect of your personal or professional life we are talking about. Nothing beats simple.

Simple takes wisdom.
Simple takes patience.
Simple requires principles and values.
Simple doesn’t tolerate envy, greed, or jealousy.
Simple is self awareness.

Once you know and accept things, people, and most importantly, who you are and who you are not, life just works.

But once in a while, you are going to freak out.

You are going to feel anxious.

You are going to wonder if you are on the right track and if things are going to work out and/or continue to work out for you.

So, how should you handle and get through it?

By slowing down.

Slowing everything down.

Slow down your thinking and your actions.

It’s like driving a car. The faster you go, the faster you have to react and the greater chance you are going to get into an accident.

But if you slow down, even if you have to pull over, you regain control.

So next time you are in that imaginary world called worry, anxiety, or fear…

Slow down.
Relax.
Take and do one thing at a time well… to completion.

Get the satisfaction of each and every process.

From brushing your teeth to driving to the office.

Be in the moment.

Enjoy the process.

Stay in the game but…

Just slow it down some.

For me, reminding myself that life is short helps me realize how meaningless most things are.

…and once I don’t let people or things outside of my control get to me, the more effective I am at living a fulfilling life.

I don’t live to work like I used to.

I work to live.

And…

The simpler my life is, the less work is required and that is a good thing.
