Today, I would like to share with you how I stay on top of my business, my health, and my personal commitments without becoming overly stressed out and/or behind in my work…. as well as figuring out what that “work” should be.
1. I write down everything. Wherever I am and wherever I go I keep a pen and paper nearby. Nothing beats writing things down. Ideas, reminders, and contact info—all of it gets written down. Nothing is left to memory.
2. I spend ample time each evening and morning planning my day. I don’t wing it. Each day is designed to get the most out of my available time. Nothing irritates me more than interruptions; therefore, I control them by planning and managing the expectations of others.
3. I go to bed between 7:30 and 8 pm and wake up at 4 am, sometimes earlier. I also take 10-20 minutes in the afternoon to lay down and close my eyes and do my version of meditation. During the week, I am extremely disciplined. I race against myself to see how productive I can be.
Friday to Sunday… all bets are off. I spend three days a week making sure everybody else in my life is taken care of, as if I work for them.
I also work out 6 days a week midday with Taylor (Sundays off).
This is what works for me.
If you think that you can or should be more productive, then I recommend testing new habits and create what works best for you.
The key is being extremely honest with yourself. Make darn sure that what you want to accomplish in life is reasonable and achievable based on your skill set/s and the sacrifices that you are willing and able to make.
