This morning, I met up with a close childhood friend. He’s also an inventor of 2 products sold in thousands of stores around the country.
Evidently, the company that markets and distributes his products went bankrupt and the company that took over the remaining assets has legal ownership of his patents.
There is nothing that he can do about it.
And his long-running monthly habit of going to the mail box, sign, then cash a big check has come to an end.
He hides it well but I can tell that he’s pretty distraught about it.
So here’s what I told him… and if you are going through a tough time or…are making a decent amount of money but aren’t that passionate about what you do each day, start here…
- Realize that it’s all between your ears… Your potential and possibilities far exceed whatever you think need, don’t have, or have lost.
- It’s virtually meaningless. It only has control over you and/or your thoughts, if you let it.
- Happiness has nothing to do with what you want or what you think you lack.
- Take this time to simplify your life. Get rid of people, things, and commitments that are not serving you.
- Spend more time alone.
- Spend more time outdoors.
- Assume (because it’s true) that the universe is telling you to re-evaluate your priorities and how you are living your life. You are out of balance.
- Don’t pressure yourself into finding a solution. That solution or clarity will come exactly at the right time, when you are ready.
- Live in the moment. Enjoy every day. You can’t worry yourself into success.
When you go through a funk, just acknowledge it and but don’t add to much meaning to it.
You are not a failure.
You are not unlucky.
You are not doomed to an unfulfilling life.
How you think
Your attitude
Your character
That determines everything.
Life has its ups and downs. You can’t prevent it.
There are days you may feel optimistic and excited and days when you will feel fried and burned out.
Roll with it.
Be thankful for what you have.
And enjoy every day on this planet.
It’s a gift.
