If you’re around movers and shakers—or read about them and/or their works—you are familiar with the latest additional definition of “hack” or “to hack”….
- Demonstrate cleverness or ingenuity
- Solve a meaningful problem
- Is not a common or well-known solution to the problem
- May not be the most straightforward or appropriate solution.
If you put a gun to my head, wired me up to a lie detector, placed my right hand on the Bible, and then had someone who is reputable, respected, and successful and who knows me both personally and professionally ask me this one question…
“Ben Altadonna…after focusing on Chiropractic marketing, practice building, and consulting with thousands of D.C.s…as well as working like a dog for close to 30 years…and being recognized as not only the top marketer in Chiropractic, but also one of the top in the country, what are the Top 5 Practice Hacks that can help the greatest amount of Chiropractors and practices and…as quickly as possible?”…
Without a doubt or hesitation, here would be my response…
(Each is counterintuitive and counter to how Chiropractic and many Chiropractors think, act, and do…)
Hands down, if every Chiropractor in the world would JUST DO THESE 5 PRACTICE HACKS, their overhead would go down (as it relates to their collections), they would have less stress, they’d be able to work less, they’d be happier, and patients would not drop out. Chiropractic would see more people, not less. Chiropractic would no longer be controversial and we’d collectively be on to all the B.S. that is told and sold to Chiropractors by consultants, colleges, vendors, seminar gurus, etc..
Initially, some Chiropractors would feel as though they are “selling out” and they would be… meaning, the supply for their services would exceed their ability to provide them.
Top 5 Practice Hacks
( In No Particular Order )
1. Only give patients what they want. Nothing more, nothing less.
- Once out of pain, let them loose. As long as you don’t “educate them” on correction, wellness, or maintenance care, they will not leave you. They will come back and they will refer way more than they do now. Hasn’t that always been the ultimate goal? I know that just the thought of this may cause you pain… but now you know how they feel when you tell them what they don’t want to hear.
2. Only adjust.
- No modalities. Yep, I know, it makes no sense. But anything more turns you into a commodity—something they can get anywhere. There is only one you. Sell that. Not your technique, not your equipment, not your belief system.
3. Have your phones answered live 24-7.
- Yes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And let every patient come in any time they want during your office hours… no matter how “booked” you already are. Figure it out. Make it work. Good problem to have. People go where people go and they don’t know unless they see with their very own eyes. No “new patient times”.
4. Fix your practice! (3 main fixes)
- NAME – Odds are, your current practice name really doesn’t mean anything of value. It’s not congruent with what most non-referred in patients already want. It’s confusing, maybe controversial, and could be repelling, not attracting, patients.
- APPEARANCE – No open adjusting. No treat bays. No posters, No brochures, No reception room T.V.. Less is more. Clean and professional. Dress professionally. (I have some articles just on this topic. If you want them, email me at AltaComInc@gmail.com.)
- PRICE – One fee based on average home values. Homes under 500k, keep at or around $35. Over 500k, $40. Over 750k, $45. Over 1 MM, $50+/-.
5. Join ChiroTrust and attend our member-only (free) Committee Meetings.
- ChiroTrust is about embracing the real world, not the “should be” world. Accepting what is and reverse engineering a business model that works.
- ChiroTrust focuses on what Consumers want. Not what Chiropractors want consumers to want. That would be “selling out” in the worst possible way.
- ChiroTrust doesn’t sell shovels, we do the shoveling for you so you can adjust, get paid, and go home.
Can you do better than you are doing now doing just some of these hacks? DEFINITELY.
Am I giving you legal or compliance advice. NO NO NO. My opinion based on special knowledge and experience that you don’t have. For advice, seek appropriate counsel.
But just realize, the only reason why you or some of you are resistant to doing all of these “Hacks” is because you have some extremely limited beliefs and have created a complex practice either by design or default… or a lavish lifestyle that requires you to do whatever you have to do to make a buck. If that is the case, I feel for you but just realize, just because you created it, that doesn’t mean that its best for you, your family, your practice, or this profession.
You really can ratchet yourself out of where you are now, to where you want to be and ChiroTrust can help immensely.
