During this time of year, other than thinking, I don’t do much related to work.
Instead, I spend as much time as possible with family and close friends.
Execution begins on the first Monday of the New Year.
So, what should you be thinking about?
This short week (Monday – Thursday), I will give you one thing to think about per day.
Here’s your first something to think about…
What one big goal can you make for 2016?
Whatever it is, I recommend that it be extremely specific and as ambitious as possible.
The more out of your comfort zone, the better.
Write it down on a fresh notepad that will be dedicated to this one big goal.
Then come January 4th, start writing down what skills you need to require, information you need to consume, people you need to hire or meet, etc..
Also, make execution and completion deadlines for every imaginable detail.
The more specific, the better.
Break everything down into the smallest pieces possible.
- The what
- The how
- The when
If you do this, then you will have the greatest chance of achieving what is important to you.
Even if you don’t reach your goal, many valuable process byproducts will come out of it.
Some may even become bigger and more valuable than your initial goal and intent.
