As I observe, experiment, and distill, I become more aware of what matters… in marketing, in business, and in life.
And I came up with these 3 R’s…
Relevance
Reputation
Relationship
Let me explain…
- Relevance – This is congruent with “giving people what they want”, providing value, and never being boring. We must be and STAY relevant and answer the market’s question, “What’s in it for me?”
- Reputation – Sometimes objective, sometimes not. HOW you and I occur to others has a greater impact on our businesses than what you know to be true about yourself. So do the right things and really care, but also be aware that building a stellar reputation does require thought, intention, and implementation.
- Relationship – Relationships are easy to start, but much more difficult to maintain. YOUR success depends on your ability to create and maintain relationships. You can’t build your practice and your numbers will not grow, without building and maintaining relationships. Period. So if your practice isn’t growing, you can be assured that you are not amassing relationships at a fast enough rate and maintaining the ones previously created. How many people know and trust you today compared to last year?
From time to time, it would serve you well to review where your Relevance, Reputation, and Relationships stand and think about what you can do to improve YOUR 3-R’s.
